Jak Hill

Jak joined the Green Gathering team in 2021, having enjoyed the ethos of the festival while performing there in previous years. She’d found touring festivals with her band tough at times, not helped by witnessing, and by default, being part of, wasteful systems.

By working with The Green Gathering, and with AGF through its assessment process, Jak hopes to encourage all festivals to operate using sustainable best practice, generating inspirational ripples of ‘green ethics’ through audiences, artists and crews.

Jak explains: “I first went to Glastonbury in my early 20’s and was astounded at how ‘fired up’ I felt. Festivals altered my life path in a myriad positive ways. When people come together in celebration at festivals, they are receptive to new ideas, transported by music, dance, visual art and more, opening up worlds of possibility. Connections are made which last beyond the event, transforming lives. At their best, festivals can give real- time experience of communities living sustainable lifestyles, ethically and equitably. They can affect us in deep ways, giving rise to a sense of hope followed by effective action.”

With a varied career spanning organic gardening, performing arts, off-grid building projects, and working creatively with vulnerable adults in an Arts & Health setting, Jak is excited to return to her first love – festivals.
